Kaemingk and Music Booster Scholarship Information

It is that time of year again….to think about applying for our Music Booster and/or Jason Kaemingk Memorial scholarships. The Jason Kaemingk Memorial Scholarship is open to ANY band student in ANY grade that is looking for assistance for summer music camps. The Mitchell Music Booster Scholarship is only available to seniors!

Below you will find information on both of these:

1) The Jason Kaemingk Scholarship Fund is for financial assistance for students interested in attending instrumental or vocal music camps over the summer. The criteria for the scholarship is as follows:

The applicant must be a student at Mitchell Senior High.
If the applicant is in choir, he/she must have been in choir and show choir for at least one year at the high school.
If the applicant is in band, he/she must have been in symphonic band and marching band for at least one year at the high school.
The applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA.
The applicant must be of good moral character.
The scholarship is based on need.
The applicants are eligible following their freshman, sophomore and junior years.
An applicant may receive the scholarship more than once in their high school career but may not receive both scholarships in a given year. Applications must use complete sentences and proper communication skills.

2) MITCHELL MUSIC BOOSTER SCHOLARSHIP

One Mitchell Music Booster Scholarship of $250.00 in each category of instrumental and vocal music will be awarded each year at MHS. Below are the requirements for this scholarship:

Student must be in band/choir for four years.
A student can receive only one (1) scholarship.  If a student receives the instrumental scholarship, he/she can not receive the vocal scholarship.
A committee from the Music Boosters who will review applications anonymously will judge all of the entries.  
Money is to be awarded at the beginning of the winner’s second semester or 3rd quarter of education, demonstrating his/her intent to stay in school.
An alternative will also be chosen in case the recipient does not attend a post-secondary institution or does not continue in 2nd semester.
Student does NOT need to major in music in post high school education in order to qualify.
Student must be in the upper half of his class and must give position of class GPA.
Emphasis will be placed on character, essay, music accomplishments at MHS, how you have utilized your music capability outside of school, awards, and other extra curricular activities.
Financial need is NOT a factor in awarding this scholarship.
Applications must use complete sentences and proper communication skills.
